Empowering
Innovative Development Solutions For Africa

01. Water, Sanitation & the Environment
Our Water, Sanitation, and Environment program is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the natural resources that sustain life. We focus on controlling ground and surface-water pollution through innovative approaches like rainwater harvesting and the strategic planting of trees. Our current projects include the development of tree nurseries and large-scale tree planting initiatives. These efforts aim to reduce pollution, protect water catchment areas, and ensure a sustainable water supply for future generations.

02. Agriculture
Our Agriculture program empowers communities by introducing the latest technological advancements in sustainable farming. We are currently building capacity for the innovative Aquaponics system of fish farming. This method combines aquaculture and hydroponics to create a highly efficient, sustainable system for food production. Our goal is to roll out this technology to communities and institutions, enhancing food security and economic resilience.

03. Education
Education is at the heart of our mission to empower individuals and communities. We support both basic and tertiary education by making curriculum books, reading materials, and informational resources readily available. Our initiative includes the establishment of community libraries, such as the Siaya Community Library, Mama Sarah Obama Library, and Ugunja Community Library. These spaces provide vital resources for primary, secondary, and tertiary students, fostering a culture of learning and intellectual growth.

04. Information and Communication Technology
Our ICT program is bridging the digital divide by connecting rural areas to the global community. We are establishing ICT training centers across communities, providing vital access to digital tools and resources. These centers will not only enhance educational opportunities but also open doors to employment and economic growth, enabling rural populations to participate fully in the digital economy.

05. Health
Our Health program addresses critical issues like Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and HIV & AIDS prevention. Through targeted education and support, we aim to inform women and young adults about their rights and health, while also working to reduce the incidence and impact of HIV & AIDS. Our efforts contribute to healthier, more informed communities, capable of making empowered choices.

06. People with Disability (PWD)
IDAP supports the Community Approaches to Handicap in Development (CAHD). This approach involves, changing attitudes, supporting of equal opportunities and rights, supporting access to education and income generation, prevention of disability, and minimizing the physical or mental difficulties and maximizing individual’s personal development through rehabilitation. Unless disabled people, and more so women are included at all levels of society, poverty will never be beaten.
